Whois Domain Registrant Validation

Whois Domain Registrant Validation

Digiweb Domain Registrant Validation – Urgent

Beginning in January ICANN (The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) requires “account holders/ domain owners” to be validated by email. The email address of a registrant will need to be validated upon the purchase, transfer or modification of the registrant name within a domain name, unless that address has already been validated. The registrant contact is the owner contact.
You will receive an email requiring an affirmative response; this will require you to click a link and agree to the terms and conditions.

It is imperative that you respond to this email.

If this email is not responded to within 15 days then the domain will become suspended and placed into ClientHold status, affecting any services that rely on it.
This email will be re-sent on day 5, 10 and 13 within the 15-day validation window.
Messages on days 10 and 13 of this process will also be sent to the Admin, Tech and Billing contacts (this will not include a validation link).
A “your domain has been suspended” email will be sent to the registrant email address on day 16 if the validation is not completed.
The same validation process will take place if a WHOIS Data Reminder Policy (WDRP) notice, 30 day expiration notice or 5 day expiration notice bounces. It will therefore be of paramount importance to ensure the WHOIS data you provide is correct.
Failing to receive a response within 15 days will result in our registration partner suspending your domain name. As a result, the name will be placed on suspended status, rendering the domain name inactive (a blank page will be displayed for said domain).
This process applies to all gTLDs. There is no impact to existing names as long as they are not modified and WDRP (Whois Data Reminder Policy)/expiration notices do not bounce.
We highly recommend that all customers log into their Control panel and make sure that the WHOIS (contact) information associated with each of their gTLD’s is correct (especially the email address).

What if my domain gets suspended?

If your domain does get suspended then follow the updating WHOIS information below or contact us directly.

What if I do not receive a validation email?

If you do not receive a validation email for an action that you suspect should warrant validation e.g. domain registration, or contact information change then it is likely that the mail may have been quarantined/ gone into your spam folder or that the owner contact email address is no longer valid.
In the case of the former please make sure to white list the sender and validate.

Updating the WHOIS information

Please open any browser and go to the Services Management portal website here, sign into your account and select Domain Names. Between Manage Domain and Whois on the right hand side of the screen will be an option which will allow you to edit the whois information on the domain.
Updating of the owner contact details will result in a mail being sent to the new address for validation.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at hosting@digiweb.ie
